The first year football panel unfortunately suffered a narrow defeat on Friday last in round 1 of the Leinster A football championship. The final score was 1-08 to 1-06, however a late penalty for the opposition secured victory in a close fought encounter.
Points from Paddy Burns, Darragh Stewart and Paddy Burns again meant the score was 0-06 to 0-03 in favour of Marist at the break.
After half time Coláiste Choilm got a big boost with a Darragh Stewart goal and further points from Stewart, Burns and the substitute Cathal Shiel brought this game down to the wire.
The concession of the late penalty gave the Athlone based side the victory.
