Coláiste Choilm Continued their Championship campaign with a hard-fought and fully deserved win over Malahide Community School, edging out a competitive contest on the lovely astro surface.
The game kicked off at exactly 12 o’clock, and it was Malahide who settled quickest, converting a free to open the scoring. They added two more frees in quick succession—though one was heavily contested by the Coláiste Choilm players and bench—giving them an early 0–3 lead inside the first ten minutes.
Coláiste Choilm grew into the game and struck back brilliantly in the 12th minute. After a well-worked move, they rattled the net for the first goal of the match. Moments later, Rob Burns clipped over a tidy point, followed by an excellent score from Keaveney to swing the momentum firmly towards the Tullamore side.
Malahide responded with another free, but Coláiste Choilm finished the half strongly, adding further points from play and frees. At the break, Coláiste Choilm led 1–6 to 0–6.
The second half began at a frantic pace. Malahide again opened the scoring with a point, but Coláiste Choilm hit back immediately with a free of their own. The turning point came in the 41st minute when Rob Burns broke through the Malahide defence and buried a superb goal, pushing Coláiste Choilm into a commanding position.
Both sides exchanged points throughout the remainder of the half, with Coláiste Choilm adding scores from play and frees to keep Malahide at arm’s length. The Dublin side did net a late goal to close the gap, but Coláiste Choilm answered with more points to maintain control to the final whistle.
