The first half of this exciting game started off rapidly with both teams trying to battle out a spot in the final. Both teams attacked desperately looking for the opening goal. 10 minutes in Holton found a gap in St. Mel's back line and passed a brilliant trough ball to Kryzevicius, who shot the ball past the keeper to make it 1-0 for the Tullamore side. After the goal the match was in favour of Coláiste Choilm who had most possession and controlled the half. In the 28th minute Coláiste Choilm played a good combination of passes, resulting in a great goal by Lawless who hit the ball over the keeper making it 2-0. The goal settled the half with CC leading by two goals at half time.
The second half started with not much action. The Tullamore side worked hard to tackle the opposition, and to maintain possession. St. Mel's found space behind Coláiste Choilm’s back line and passed the ball into their striker on a run. The striker was in a one v one situation on goal but was fouled. The referee awarded a penalty. The penalty was taken, but it sailed over the bar. Coláiste Choilm took a sigh of relief and played on. Just before the final whistle Burns nearly scored hitting the crossbar. The final whistle blew, Coláiste Choilm are trough to the final.
Man of the Match: C. Staunton. He worked hard at centre-back, put in tackles and played well with the ball. He also created good chances for his teammates. That is why he should be man of the match.
