In a pulsating A Leinster Final, Coláiste Choilm overcame a rocky start to claim a hard-fought victory over Kilkenny CBS in front of a roaring crowd at O’Brien Park.
The game began with Kilkenny CBS racing into an early lead, notching a goal and two points before Coláiste Choilm found their rhythm. But it was Rory Grennan who ignited the comeback with a sensational goal, followed by a fine point from Robbie Dolan.
Momentum swung further in Choilm’s favour when Grennan was fouled in the box, earning a penalty. Conal Buggy’s strike rattled the crossbar, but he showed great composure to slot over a point from the rebound. Dolan added his second point soon after, and scores from Conal Buggy, Kaiden Monaghan, and Adam Geragthy helped Coláiste Choilm edge ahead by the break.
The second half opened with Kilkenny CBS surging forward to level the game with a sharp point and a well-taken goal. But Coláiste Choilm’s defence, led by the brave Jack McDermott and the ever-reliable Kristian, Svidersks stood firm. Buggy added to his tally, and Geraghty delivered a moment of magic, plucking the ball from the sky and rifling it into the bottom corner.
Despite a yellow card for Kristian late in the game, Coláiste Choilm held their nerve. With a standout performance from Daithi Boland, rock solid in defense and two crucial points from Buggy and Kaiden Monaghan, Coláiste Choilm were crowned Leinster champions.
