Events for Wellbeing Week 2019 are as follows:

Tuesday 8th 9am:

Dr Domhhnall O’Connor (Past Pupil), “The importance of sleep for wellbeing: A scientific perspective”

Tuesday 8th 9am -1pm:

MIDLANDS YOUTH DRUG & ALCOHOL SUPPORT (MYDAS) – UNDER-18s. Jillian Corcoran. Cairde Training on “Putting the Pieces together” Drug and Alcohol Education programme to be delivered by Cairde to first years.

Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th:

Leaving Cert Retreats

Thursday 10th: 1:40-3:40:

Benjy Hynes, Psychotherapist. “Managing Stress”

Thursday 10th: 7:30:

Parents talk: John Lonergan (former Governor of Mount joy Prison) and Caroline Crotty (Psychotherapist) “Teen Wellbeing in Challenging Times”

During the presentation you will hear first-hand about the issues that teenagers present with and how parents can help their children through difficult times; and indeed how they could prevent some issues occurring in the first place. You will also hear the speaker’s thoughts on subjects such as social media, drugs, alcohol and violence. And finally the speakers will address self-care for parents. The talk will last about an hour and 10 minutes and there will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end. It is a great opportunity to mark World Mental Health Day in a way that helps both your son’s and your mental health needs. We look forward to seeing you there.

Comdt Murtagh Brennan- “Exercise for physical and mental wellbeing- a lifelong perspective”.

*Garda Fergus Collins has said he will do talks on wellbeing and the impact of drugs and alcohol. Date and Time to be confirmed.
