Literacy and Numeracy is integral across all subjects in Coláiste Choilm.
Students visit Tullamore Library during the year to encourage a love for reading. We have a literacy noticeboard in the school which displays the word of the week and famous quotes. Debating and Public Speaking is offered to all students to help develop students' confidence.
Literacy week takes place during March every year. Some activities include:
- Drop Everything and Read
- Short Story competition
- Spelling Bee
- Drama Workshop
- Staff vs Students Debate
- 6th Years dress up as their favourite book character for World Book Day
